My Green Room Debut

Hey y'all! I know it's not on topic totally, but I just wanted to share the love with all of you. I'm a huge Broadway whore, and even though I'm back in California for the summer, I'm still trying to keep in touch with as many shows as I can.

One of the shows that I became totally into is 'La Boheme,' and especially the singer Eugene Brancoveanu who sings Marcello half of the nights. He's a totally amazing singer, and a lot better than the American guy who does the other half of the shows, I'd say. So, after I saw the show the first time, a friend and I went to the stage door to say hi. He was really nice and even walked us to the subway station after talking to us for a long time. The second time I saw it he twisted his ankle on stage, just about making me jump out of my seat. The third time I went around after, but he said that he couldn't hang out with me that night because he had some silly press stuff to do. That was three days before I moved back to Cali, so he asked if I could come back the Friday, the last night he'd be on before I left. I himmed and hawed over it for a little while, but then decided to go. After getting the final rush ticket (a sign, I told myself), I saw the most amazing show I'd ever seen, and went around after to say hi to Eugene. Since I was there two days prior to that, I already had most of the guys sign my stuff, but Daniel, the guy who plays Colline, remembered me and picked me up and spun me around when he saw me. He's a jolly guy, so we talked for a little while before he had to bolt. Shortly after Eugene came out and we hung out for a good hour and a half after the show. We talked about just about everything, and it truly amazed me that at the age of 25 he was singing opera on Broadway. He even gave me a 'La Boheme' hat that he had in his duffle bag, saying it was for his 'one and only fan.' He also gave me his email address so we could keep in contact over the summer. After I heard about the 10 principals all getting Tonys, I emailed him my congrats. After two weeks I'd about written it off that he'd relpy, but I just got one from him! He's a total sweetie, and for not being in the US for too long he really has good English. Ahhhh... Just another excuse for me to go see the show as much as I can when I get home... to New York, that is.

So, that's it in a very quick nutshell. If anyone else around here is a 'La Boheme' junkie, feel free to give me a holler. I love to talk about just about every aspect of the show, not to mention theatre in general, and not a lot of people around my rural NorCal town know what I'm even talking about.
